Partnership with Camp Harlam

Camp Harlam is pleased to announce that we have also entered into a partnership with Healthy Camper, a nutrition consulting firm specializing in camps, headed by Beth Schwartzman. Beth is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator. She also works at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and brings with her many years of experience working with food, menu development and food allergy management. We are working together to redesign our menus providing healthy, delicious food your kids will want to eat, and will be able to count on Beth to support our camp and its staff to maintain the highest standards possible this summer.

DESCRIPTION AND LEARNING OUTCOMES:
This webinar will help you design menus to meet goals for good health for both campers and staff.  Learn basic principles of nutrition and how much of the different food groups and nutrients are needed each day.  Creating menus that offer good nutrition are camper approved and stay within your budget may seem like an impossible task.

By the end of the webinar participant will learn:

  1. How the kitchen and dining room set up impacts choices.
  2. Basic components of a balanced diet.
  3. How to develop menus that meet the above requirements with budget and camper & staff acceptance in mind.

PRESENTER BIO:
Beth Schwartzman has been a Registered Dietitian/Licensed Nutritionist for more than 15 years, specializing in diabetes, food allergy management, and overall health issues.  Beth is also a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) on staff at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  Beth is a Consultant  for camps (www.healthy-camper.com)  working on nutritional needs, planning menus, establish allergy guidelines as well as working with camps to train staff on how to deal with special diets.  Beth works with Directors; Medical staff and parents to make sure all the concerns are heard and acted upon for a safe summer.
